The economist Online in January 2011 identified that six of the top 10 fastest growing economies during the period 2000-2010 were African countries. Angola topped this list with a growth rate of around 11.1 % more than China's which was 10.5%. Angola's phenomenal growth during this period led to it moving from being regarded a Low Income Country to middle income country status. The Economist also forecasts that seven of the ten fastest growing economies during the period 2011-2015 will be African economies, other various forecasts indicate that by 2015 African economies growth rate will surpass that of Asia.
